Former Supreme Court Justice Syed Abdul Nazeer sworn in as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh. This is a key development with main elections a year away, say the political analysts. The new Governor will have his own set of challenges over the next 365 days.
The two major political parties in AP are YCP and Telugu Desam. ‘Why Not 175’ is the slogan of AP CM YS Jagan Reddy ahead of the 2024 elections and he wants to sweep all the Assembly constituencies to ensure there is no opposition for dominance.
On the other hand, Telugu Desam has turned aggressive in AP and is accusing the YCP government of killing democracy using police force. YCP hit back at this allegation of TDP but brought G.0. 1 prohibiting public gatherings in the state in view of two unwanted incidents that took place in TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu rallies.
Yet the focus will be on ‘Three Capitals’ during the elections. The YCP government is hell bent to implement this and go for the elections and accordingly is working for the same. With the Global Investors Summit slated in Vizag, CM Jagan announced that he is moving to the beach city very soon and that way YCP government sent signals that Vizag is the capital of AP.
With the ‘Three Capitals’ row pending in the Supreme Court, for sure the decision of YCP government will invite troubles legally and politically. How the new Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer will handle the ‘Capitals’ row is something to be carefully observed.
In fact the ‘Capitals’ row will be more challenging for Governor Abdul Nazeer. What kind of decision will the Governor take? Political analysts say that the next election will highly depend on these factors and it is unclear which party will get advantage of the Governor’s decisions.
