People in Tenali were put to unprecedented trouble for Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to the place. The CM is scheduled to visit the place to release the funds of input subsidy and Rythu Bharosa into the farmers’ accounts today. The programme would last for just an hour but the locals had to face a lot of inconvenience for two days.
Meanwhile, there is buzz that Jagan is simply pressing the button for funds which had already been released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of 13th tranche of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme (PM-KISAN), during his visit to Karnataka state yesterday. Jagan is trying to merge the Rythu Bharosa with PM-KISAN, it is being said.
Under the scheme, over 80 million farmers would receive Rs 2,000 directly into their bank accounts for which around Rs 168 billion has been earmarked by the Centre.
The PM-KISAN is a central government scheme through which small and marginal farmers receive a minimum income support of Rs 6,000 per year, which is paid in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 every four months.
As part of arrangements for the CM’s visit, people had to face several restrictions in Tenali. Barricades were arranged barring entry for 1 km on either side of the road near the market yard, which was identified as the venue for the programme. The main road connecting the over bridge in Tenali to Angalakuduru was cordoned off with barricades on either side of the road. People are also not being allowed to move freely out of their houses. Shopkeepers were directed to keep their establishments closed till the CM’s visit is complete. A helipad was also arranged near the venue.
At the same time, several old trees have also been felled, as part of the security arrangements for the CM’s visit. To remove the trees, power was cut even for the district government hospital putting the in-patients to a lot of inconvenience in this hot season.
Cutting off the old trees just for the CM’s visit and his security, which would last for not more than a day, was trolled by the netizens. The opposition parties also slammed the officials for removing the trees which had taken several years to grow just for one day’s programme.
People injured in a road mishap near Tenali also had to face trouble as doctors could not take X-rays and do scanning due to the power cut. The victims had to be shifted to other hospitals for proper treatment. A heavy vehicle carrying a big generator hit an auto leading to a major mishap near Tenali.
For the CM’s visit, the compound wall around the market yard had been demolished and a road was also laid down to facilitate convenient entry for Jagan.
In the market yard, several stalls have been arranged in view of the CM’s visit. At these stalls, even the corn cobs were smeared with YSRC party colours. Electric poles were also painted with YCP colours – white, green and blue – throughout the CM’s route.
