YS Sharmila has reacted to BRS MLC Kavitha’s protest in Delhi demanding Women’s Reservation Bill. Calling Kavitha’s demand for Women’s Reservation Bill as opportunistic and a laughing stock, Sharmila asked why the BRS party itself isn’t providing 33 percent seats to its women leaders.
“Of total 119 assembly seats in 2014 polls, TRS had allocated a meager 6 seats for women. In 2018, it offered only 4 seats for women. Have you implemented the women’s reservation in your party? Be it MLAs or MPs or MLCs or Ministers, the women count is less than two or three,” said YSRTP president YS Sharmila.
“If your own party is not even giving 4 percent of seats to women and you are demanding 33 percent reservation for women in Delhi is a laughing point,” said Sharmila.
Sharmila alleged Kavitha of raising the Women’s Reservation Bill in the wake of her name in the Delhi liquor scam. Sharmila said BRS doesn’t respect women. “The Governor is the first citizen of a state. Telangana has a lady Governor and she is not being respected by the Telangana state government. A person who used foul language against the Governor is allocated an MLA seat by the BRS party. What signal does CM KCR send by this act,” said Sharmila.
Sharmila said Kavitha’s protest for Women’s Reservation Bill in Delhi is purely “diversion tactics” ahead of her arrest in the liquor scam. She said only KCR’s daughter is given respect, position, power and safety in the Telangana state whereas other women in the state are given least importance. Sharmila said only KCR’s daughter is growing financially whereas other women in the state are not improving their wealth.
Sharmila didn’t spare opposition and Congress president Revanth Reddy either. She asked why Revanth Reddy is silent on crucial issues like liquor scam and belittling women in Telangana.
