In July 2018, the last chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy returned to Congress. Many expected that he would take charge of AP Congress affairs and revive the party in Andhra Pradesh but this did not happen. After returning to Congress, Kiran Kumar Reddy went completely silent.
The latest about Kiran Kumar Reddy is that he is all set to join the BJP. Apparently the BJP high command is said to be holding talks with Kiran Kumar Reddy for a while now. After Kanna Lakshmi Narayana quitting the BJP, the party has no proper face in the state and with elections fast approaching, the BJP leadership is worried about its strengths and vote share.
To build the party, BJP needs a face value and accordingly they consulted Kiran Kumar Reddy. Media reports inform that the BJP assured a prominent position in the party and also vital responsibilities for the party’s growth in AP.
There are also reasons for Kiran Kumar Reddy to quit Congress. He is supposedly unhappy with Congress high command for appointing Rudraraju as AP PCC chief. Kiran was expecting the same and he was ignored by Congress high command for unknown reasons. Since then Kiran is not active in the party and finally he decided to leave the party.
