With a rude shock to the ruling YSRCP in the Graduate MLC results where the opposition TDP swept the polls and bagged 3 out of 3 MLC seats, CM Jagan has decided to win the MLA quota MLC polls.
Although the majority of MLAs are with YSRCP, CM Jagan doesn’t want to take any chances. Reportedly, CM Jagan has given an open offer to MLAs. He reportedly told ministers to check with the MLAs on their demands like any development works in the constituency or the funds for the constituency. Jagan tasked the ministers to ensure MLAs are happy ahead of the MLA quota MLC polls.
There are 7 MLC seats in MLA quota in AP. CM Jagan wants to win 7 out 7 MLA quota MLC and give a befitting counter to TDP which won all the 3 Graduate MLC seats.
No doubt, YSRCP has a clear majority in the Assembly. In addition to their existing strength, 4 rebel MLAs of TDP and 1 rebel Janasena MLA are supporting ruling YCP. With this, TDP strength is reduced to 19 MLAs. The breather to TDP came from 2 rebel YCP MLAs Anam Ramanarayan Reddy and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy who are expected to support TDP.
TDP has fielded Anuradha Panchumarthi as its candidate and gave a shock to the ruling party. Amidst all this, CM Jagan has taken MLA quota MLC polls very seriously. On the other hand, TDP got a great boost with victory in Graduate MLC polls. So, TDP wants to win its MLA quota MLC and give a shocker to ruling YCP.
TDP has issued whip to all its 23 MLAs to attend and cast their votes for TDP candidate in MLAs quota MLC poll. The election will be held on 23rd March in the Assembly committee hall and counting will begin on the same day at 5pm.
