A young woman leader of the TDP had been requesting party supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu to give her ‘one chance’ to prove herself for the last six years. Even her mother had met Naidu and urged him to give her daughter ‘one chance’ two years ago. However, the party boss had been keeping their case in abeyance citing trivial reasons.
She is none other than former Speaker Kavali Pratibha Bharati’s daughter Kavali Greeshma, belonging to Rajam constituency in Srikakulam. The Kavali family had been trying to get the Rajam ticket since long but Naidu had neither given an assurance or nod to them. Neither did say that he would not give the ticket.
With the elections just a year away, there is information that the YCP leaders are trying to woo Greeshma. Sources said that this information reached the TDP boss too but he had not responded.
In 2009, Congress leader Kondru Murali Mohan registered from Rajam, a constituency reserved for the SC community. Though he stayed away from elections in 2014, he came into the TDP in 2019. There is buzz that he has the support of former minister Kala Venkat Rao. Following this connection, Naidu gave chance to Kondru in 2019, setting the Kavali aside, but he got defeated. Not just this, he is also not active in the party activities. Compared to him, Greeshma is more active in the party.
Then why is Naidu delaying to oblige to Greeshma’s request?
Meanwhile the YCP is trying to pull the Kavali family into the party. There is information that the YCP is inclined to give a nominated post to Greeshma and MLC post to Pratibha Bharati. The YCP is trying to minimize the anti-incumbency against sitting MLA Kambala Jogulu by bringing Greeshma and her mother into the party, TDP sources said. However, the TDP supremo remains unperturbed.
