Sajjala Says, Naidu Used Money & Power

The victory of TDP senior leader Panchumarti Anuradha in the MLA quota MLC polls has alerted the YCP leaders. YCP leader and Government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that action would be taken at the right time against their party MLAs who had resorted to cross voting in the MLC polls.

He claimed that they had earlier spoken to their leaders raising the voice of dissent. At the same time, he also expressed doubt over the integrity of TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu.

How could the TDP win 23 votes when four of the MLAs have openly snapped their ties with the party and got close to the YCP, Sajjala asked. “When there are only 19 MLAs, how can they get 23 votes. We tried to appease all those leaders having dissatisfaction with the YCP and they too realized that it was not the time to raise a rebellion. In such a case, what was the compelling reason for our MLAs to vote for the TDP. We could identify that except money, there is no other reason for the YCP MLAs to vote for the TDP,” the government advisor said.

However, he said that appropriate decision would be taken with regard to the MLAs who were involved in cross voting.

Sajjala said that there could be leaders who are not happy with the YCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s policies or they might be dissatisfied that they are not getting what they wanted. At the same time, he said YCP leaders who were not happy with the party can go out. Their exit will not affect the YCP’s prospects, he affirmed.

When asked if they would be able to reach their target of ‘Why Not 175/175?’ in the wake of this setback, Sajjala said that it was completely different. The MLA and MLC elections do not have any connection. We are more confident. There is no comparison between both the elections.”

He asked if the TDP was confident that it will contest from all the 175 seats in the 2024 elections. “If Naidu has that confidence, the YCP will welcome it,” he added.
