Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao has faced a slip of tongue moment as he made mocking comments against men as a whole. Speaking about women empowerment and the state government’s welfare schemes to women at Killipalem village in Srikakulam mandal on Tuesday, the minister said men are Poramboku (Vagabonds) who just roam and come for meetings, eat and go. The minister meant that men are “irresponsible”. He said the government doesn’t want men to dictate at home. He said women is incharge of the house and hence the government transferring benefits of schemes to women. Minister Dharmana said men take benefits but vote for other parties.
Dharmana said Jagan understood the woes of women during his Padayatra and hence he introduced several welfare schemes to women. He said women should again vote for YSRCP to continue the welfare schemes. Dharmana made these comments at the release of funds for the third phase of the Aasara Scheme.
The minister’s comments on men have gone viral on social media platforms. Many have ridiculed Dharmana for generalizing men. He said Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his padayatra held before the 2019 elections, understood the problems being faced by women across the state. It was then only he promised that top priority would be given to the welfare of women, after coming to power.
Dharmana accused Chandrababu of spreading false propaganda against welfare schemes of AP government. He said the government’s money was being spent on the poor, the construction of schools and hospitals that were ignored in the previous Naidu government.
