YCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s back-to-back Delhi tours have increased speculation of early polls in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and other ministers at the Centre during his tours. During his latest visit, he met Amit Shah and Nirmala Sitharaman and urged them to release the pending dues to the state which led to talk that Jagan is trying to secure all the dues to the state at the earliest.
There is buzz that Jagan has opened his mind and told Modi, Shah about his plans and urged them to cooperate with him for the conduct of polls ahead of the schedule. It is pertinent to note that the Centre released Rs 5,000 crore of pending dues just two weeks ago after Jagan met Modi. It is learnt that Jagan had met Nirmala Sitharaman too and made the same request to release the dues.
Apart from that, politically, Jagan is also putting in all efforts to ensure that the opposition parties do not get united. If the YCP has to win in the 2024 elections, he has to see that the TDP and Jana Sena do not form an alliance. However, he has no control on the opposition parties. If the Assembly polls are held as per the schedule, both the parties would discuss their strategies in detail, take decisions and then form an alliance at their leisure.
The YCP and the public also witnessed what would happen if the TDP, Jana Sena and PDF get together in the Graduates MLC polls held recently.
Jagan could be probably fearing the worst if the Jana Sena, TDP and the Left parties have an understanding for the 2024 Assembly polls. The CM is of the opinion that early polls alone would prevent the opposition parties from getting united and defeating the YCP. It has to be seen if his strategy of not allowing the opposition parties to unite would work, ahead of the Assembly polls.
