Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president and TD Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao halted speculation that he would launch a national party in the near future. He said that he would launch such a national outfit only after making a public announcement. He said that there were no such plans as of now. However, he did not rule out the proposal completely. “In the future, if such thoughts would crop up, I will take everybody’s opinions, including that of my MLAs and then take a decision,” he said.
KCR said that he was giving the clarification following some news reports in a vernacular daily. He urged people and the political parties not to react to such stories or get into any confusion. KCR gave this clarification during the Assembly session which is underway in Telangana.
There was buzz that KCR would launch a national party by name “Naya Bharat” , a Third Front with federal principles, as an alternative to the BJP and the Congress. TDP president Chandrababu Naidu too said that in 2022, there might be ‘one nation-one election”.
In 2018 after winning the Assembly elections, KCR floated the idea of a front with like-minded parties as an alternative to both the BJP and the Congress.
He also held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, Odisha CM and Biju Janata Dal chief Naveen Patnaik, Janata Dal-Secular leader and former PM H.D. Deve Gowda, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and DMK chief MK Stalin.
