The CBI sleuths took YCP MP Avinash Reddy’s father Y.S Bhaskar Reddy into custody in connection with former minister Y.S. Vivekananda’s murder case. After arresting him, the sleuths shifted him to Hyderabad from Pulivendula and then produced him before the CBI judge who remanded him to 14 days judicial custody. Later, he was moved to the Chanchalguda jail.
Significantly, none of the YCP leaders made any remarks regarding the arrest, except two of their leaders. Minister Adimulapu Suresh said that law would continue take its own course. “Nobody is beyond law. Everybody is equal before the law, irrespective of their status,” he said.
He reminded that it was Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy himself who demanded that the Viveka murder case be handed over to the CBI. Those guilty in the case should be caught and punished, he said.
Proddatur MLA Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy echoed a different argument. He termed Bhaskar Reddy’s arrest illegal. The probe agencies should conduct investigation honestly but in this case, it seems to be lacking. In the Viveka’s murder case, the CBI seems to have left out the real culprits and is focused on targeting Avinash Reddy’s family. They should try to find the motive behind the murder – is it due to political reasons or some financial transaction or an extra-marital affair or a second marriage? He faulted the probe agencies for failing to conduct the investigation in any of these angles.
The different perceptions of the YCP leaders are confusing the public in Andhra Pradesh.
