After winning the 2019 elections, AP CM YS Jagan Reddy and his YCP government renamed welfare schemes and many others after his father, late YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s name. Probably the biggest one was renaming the Health University which actually had the name of Telugu stalwart, NT Rama Rao.
Looks like the YCP government is continuing its renaming trend and freshly the view point at Vizag’s beach was renamed after YSR. It was initially named after Bharat Ratna, APJ Abdul Kalam and now it’s called YSR View Point.
Criticizing this decision of YCP government, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at CM Jagan. “Saddened to see Abdul Kalam View Point in Vizag being renamed as YSR View Point. What is this psychopathic sadism to change names? This is nothing but disrespecting a much loved people’s president who epitomized honesty, discipline, and perseverance,” tweeted Naidu.
Apparently this is not the first time that the Jagan government excluded the name of former President Kalam. ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar’ was redesignation to YSR Vidya Puraskars in November 2019 and the view point is the second event.
Before the 2024 elections, some more programs or places might see this renaming trend. Jai Jagan, Hail YS
