Speculation is rife that former PCC president Sake Sailajanath would switch sides to the TDP. TDP senior leader JC Diwakar Reddy reportedly met Sailajanath at his residence and asked him to join their party.
The TDP is trying to field a strong candidate in the Singanamala constituency and there is buzz that the party has identified Sailajanath for the purpose.
JC had spoken to the TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and suggested that Sailajanath be taken into the party. The TDP is plagued by infighting in Singanamala. In the last elections, TDP’s Bandaru Sravani was defeated by YCP’s Jonnalagadda Padmavathi. Both of them are very active in the constituency and Sravani is also very friendly with the party workers.
However, a few TDP activists are not happy with Sravani’s husband calling the shots in the party and are differing with him. There are three dissident groups working against Sravani. Now, all the three groups and Sravani are contending for the party ticket.
The TDP leadership has understood that the internal bickerings cannot be sorted out just by having discussion with them and then giving the ticket to one of them. For the same reason, the party is trying to field a strong candidate from the constituency.
JC Diwakar Reddy had gone to Sake’s house to speak about the issue. Apparently, Sailajanath also understood that there is no future for him in the Congress and is still weighing the options. At one time, there were rumours that he would join the YCP but the latest developments indicate that he is likely to get into the TDP.
In that case, what would happen to Sailajanath if all the groups already fighting for dominance in the TDP get united and oppose him?
