Change is the only constant thing both in life and politics. It is highly unpredictable when things would change. While the ruling YCP aimed at ‘Why Not 175?’, the party is facing severe opposition from the party MLAs itself. The TDP which was bogged down by the humiliating defeat in the 2019 polls and subsequent harassment of its cadre by the YCP, is now seeing bright days following the win in the Graduate MLC polls.
With the CBI probe into Reddy’s uncle and former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder making some serious allegations against Jagan’s cousin and MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy, YCP boss and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is now into a self-defence mode. The general elections are just 10 months away and there is uncertainty over who would quit the YCP and this is proving to be a setback for the party.
The YCP MLAs are being overloaded with several campaigns simultaneously like Gadapa Gadapaku and Jagananne Maa Bhavishyattu but there is no enthusiasm or hope of a thumping victory in the cadre.
At the same time, the Opposition TDP is working overtime as the cadre is able to see light at the end of the tunnel. In addition to the victory in the Graduate MLC polls, the public seems to be believing in their party boss’ ‘vision’. There are indications that people opposing the three capital proposal are likely to vote for the TDP next time. Irrespective of the TDP’s alliance, the party cadre is completely involved and immersed in electioneering to clinch back many of their forts from the YCP.
Further, the cadre is also hopeful of many from the ruling party to switch sides to the TDP in the coming days. The TDP leaders claimed that the public lost faith in the ruling party due to the poor financial condition of the state. The YCP government is not able to pay the salaries of the employees on time and it is also involved only in ‘pressing the button’ all through its tenure so far, neglecting development.
One other factor weaning the public away from the YCP is its boss ignoring family sentiments and values while Naidu’s vision is making the repose faith in him.
