Khammam district would pose a challenge for the BRS chief yet again. During the last two elections, the party could win only single constituency of the total 10 in the district. BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao is determined to win all the Assembly seats from this district.
However, this time too, KCR’s wish might remain unfulfilled as former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had thrown down the gauntlet to the CM. Ponguleti vowed to win all the seats in Khammam and had even begun efforts in that direction, as he severely opposes KCR.
Since the beginning, Khammam had been evading the BRS hold. Neither had there been any strong impact of the separate Telangana movement on that district. Even KCR failed to impress the people in Khammam district and for the same reason, the party did not fare well during the last two elections. Just by pulling in the MLAs of other parties into his party, KCR had been trying to gain control over the district. Now, he wants to field his party candidates and get hold over the district but that could be a distant dream.
There is no clarity over the party which Ponguleti would join to beat KCR. According to his supporters, the former MP would join the Congress as he believes that only then, he would reach his goal. He is of the opinion that the BJP would not help him reach his target.
Now, it has to be seen who would win the challenge.
