Former Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who was recently suspended from the BRS party, is in high demand from major political parties in Telangana. Despite being undecided on his next moves, this has turned into a boon for Ponguleti. Recently, Telangana PCC Chief Revanth Reddy extended an invitation to join the Congress party, while BJP MLA Etela Rajender and his team also held talks with Ponguleti and Jupalli Krishna Rao, another suspended leader from BRS.
The primary target of both BJP and Congress is Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy for several reasons. He is a businessman with significant financial backing and has a significant following in all ten Assembly constituencies in Khammam district. If Ponguleti joins either party, it will be a tough competition for BRS in Khammam.
For Congress, Ponguleti’s inclusion will be advantageous as they are the second-largest party in Khammam after Communist parties. Although the party has no shortage of candidates, Ponguleti’s inclusion will undoubtedly help them in several ways. On the other hand, the BJP lacks proper candidates in Khammam, and Ponguleti’s followers could potentially turn the tide in their favor.
Etela Rajender is reportedly lobbying to get Ponguleti into the BJP, sensing a significant opportunity. However, Ponguleti’s plans to float his own political outfit are working against him. To accomplish his goals, he must race against time as forming a political party and taking it to the public is a time-consuming process. For the time being, he is considering joining Congress and discussing the matter with his supporters. His final decision remains unknown.
