The Kshatriya community is in a dilemma over which political party should it support in the upcoming elections. Members of this community are in quite a good number in the TDP, BJP and YCP.
In the first cabinet, YCP boss and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave berth to Sri Ranganatharaju eyeing the Kshatriya vote bank. But during expansion of his cabinet, he set them aside. The community supported the YCP in the last elections and there was talk that it was because the entire community voted for the party, the YCP won in the West Godavari district, where their population is concentrated.
Now, while a few say that the Kshatriyas are trying to get close to the TDP, others are of the opinion that they want to sail with the BJP.
However, according to the inside talk, Kshatriyas have split into two groups. While one is lending support to Modi at the Centre, the other is planning to back the TDP in the state. Kshatriyas feel that they had to face loss due to the YCP’s three-capital formula. A majority of them had invested on land in Amaravati and due to Jagan’s idea to shift to Vizag, they had to face losses. Hence, they are of the opinion that they should support the TDP this time so that they could witness some development both in Amaravati and in the entire state.
The community members have some clarity about the party they need to support but have not revealed anything about this in the open so far.
