Dot. Jagan Makes A Big Move

Published by

AP CM YS Jagan Reddy-led YCP government made a big move by allotting the British era Chukkala Bhumulu (Dotted Lands) to farmers. In October 2022, the AP government launched the program of denotification of lands from Section 22A, which will give full powers to farmers who were barred from selling or acquiring the lands.

Today, in Kavali of Nellore district, CM Jagan started the program of giving land to the farmers of dotted lands. The CM said that his government has solved the problem of dotted lands that farmers have been waiting for decades, and that Section 22A has been deleted from the registration procedure.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan said, “If a farmer is happy, the state will prosper. The registration of these lands will be Rs 8,000 crores and the current market value will be Rs 20,000 crores. 97,412 farmers are being given rights to 2.60 acres of land,” announced CM Jagan.

Accusing the previous TDP government, CM Jagan said that Chandrababu Naidu included these lands in the prohibited list and betrayed the farmers. Recalling his Padayatra, Jagan added that he saw the hardships faced by the people over the issue of dotted lands.

43 thousand acres in Nellore district, 37 thousand acres in Prakasam and 22 thousand acres in Kadapa district, Annamayya and Chittoor districts, and totally, Jagan said that his government is giving full rights to farmers for two lakh acres across the state.

What are Chukkala Bhumulu?

About 100 years back in British Rule, during a survey, certain lands were not determined whether they belong to the government or private persons. So, back then ‘dots’ were left in the revenue records (Re-settlement Register – RSR), and the issue remained unsolved for decades. The revenue department is considering them as ‘Chukkala Bhumulu’ (dotted lands). Although the farmers are farming in these lands, they are facing many difficulties without full rights. Recently, the AP government has decided to give rights of these lands to farmers who are dependent on them.”
