Who Is Responsible For BJP’s Loss In Karnataka?

Published by

The BJP suffered a jolt in Karnataka. In 2007, the party registered victory in the southern state for the first time winning 78 seats and since then, it has been increasing in strength. In 2018, the BJP won 104 seats but this time, it suffered a defeat. Had the party won, the credit would have gone to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his vision.

The state BJP leaders would have showered him with praises and said that it was Modi’s vision and development that helped the party retain power in the state. The BJP would have held celebrations across the nation.

However, the public verdict has been in contrast to the BJP’s expectations. They trounced the party and who would own it up?

As of now, former CM and BJP senior leader Basavaraj Bommai said he would own up the moral responsibility for the defeat. However, there is talk that a sword is dangling on BJP national president JP Nadda’s neck. Earlier this year, the BJP was defeated in Himachal Pradesh, Nadda’s native state. It was then believed that Nadda would be held responsible then itself but somehow, he was saved.

This time, there is talk that he would face the music but if we look into the entire polling process, right from issuing tickets to campaigning, Modi and Amit Shah headed it. The duo took decisions and even planned the entire electioneering in the state and in such a case, one can understand who should be held responsible for the defeat.
