‘Excess’ Protection Bringing Disrepute To Jagan?

Published by

The ‘excesses’ of the police and municipal staff landed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in trouble. He could not have ordered for cutting down huge trees in places visited by him but the officials, on their own discretion, removed them. This even went to the notice of the National Green Tribunal.

The removal of green cover drew criticism from several quarters. There is information that the NGT too got ready to take action against the YCP government over the same issue. There is an argument that Jagan could not have ordered for removal of the trees as his own residence in Tadepalli is surrounded by a large number of trees.

In another situation, some patients suffering from long-term illnesses had been trying to meet Jagan at public meetings. They want to meet him and explain about the various diseases that have not been included in Aarogyasri and get some funds sanctioned for their treatment. However, the officials around him have not been allowing these patients to go near to the CM and even this is earning a bad name to the CM.

Jagan is able to respond to only one or two patients whom he is able to see from his convoy. He is granting funds to them.

One other complaint against the CM is that the police are not allowing public trying to approach Jagan with their complaints. The public includes people’s organisations leaders, BJP and TDP leaders too who are trying to reach Jagan with their grievances but the police are driving them away without even hearing to their requests.

Ahead of the general elections, such behaviour of the officials, working in coordination with the CMO, would only bring disrepute and be a blot on the YCP government.
