The recent decision by the Reserve Bank of India to withdraw the legal tender status of the Rs 2000 currency note has garnered widespread support. However, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has seized the opportunity to claim credit for advocating the ban on the Rs 2000 note for a considerable period. Social media has been abuzz with Naidu’s past statements, and many have commended his foresight and analysis regarding the Rs 2000 currency note.
Nevertheless, the YCP has retaliated by accusing Naidu of exhibiting double standards on the issue of the note ban. AP IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath responded to Chandrababu Naidu’s claims, stating, “In 2016, demonetization was initiated with noble intentions, but the outcomes proved otherwise. Now, Naidu is attempting to take credit for the ban on the Rs 2000 note, but he should remember his own criticism when the TDP distanced itself from the BJP in 2019. Chandrababu labeled demonetization as a decision akin to that of ‘Tuglaq,’ and it appears he is now praising it solely to align himself with the BJP,” added Gudivada Amarnath.
