The proposed alliance between the TDP, Jana Sena and the BJP is leading to much anxiety among the TDP cadre but instilled confidence and boosted the morale of the JS activists.
During a meeting with his party cadre, the JS chief and actor Pawan Kalyan said that their party would contest from all the constituencies where it has strength.
According to Pawan’s calculations, the party has a strong hold in both the Godavari districts, and a few others from Krishna to Srikakulam. He said that the party has 36 per cent vote share in Godavari districts. From Krishna to Srikakulam, the party has 25% vote share in every district. If the vote share in Rayalaseema and coastal districts is added, it would have 18% vote share. Compared to 2019 elections, the JS vote share has increased considerably this time around.
Pawan is planning to contest from 10 constituencies in the Godavari districts. In north Andhra, the JS would contest from 8 seats, 10 in Rayalaseema and 10 other seats from the coastal districts of Nellore, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts. Together, Pawan hinted that the JS is likely to contest from 45 constituencies.
If the BJP also enters into the alliance, 15 more seats will have to be left for it, which means a total of 60 constituencies would go into other parties hands.
This has raised the tension among the TDP cadre. However, would Naidu accept for leaving the constituencies as part of the alliance? There is buzz that he will have to yield to the pressure given the interest the TDP is showing in the alliance for its existence.
