In a significant move, the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned a generous amount of funds for the construction of the Polavaram dam in Andhra Pradesh.
The Union Ministry for Jal Shakthi has agreed to provide ad hoc assistance of Rs 17,144 crore for the Polavaram project works. The ministry is expected to release the necessary orders in the coming days, facilitating the transfer of funds for the project.
The state government, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Reddy, expressed gratitude for the support received from the Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and acknowledged the importance of the Polavaram project in the development and welfare of Andhra Pradesh.
Polavaram holds immense significance as it serves as a lifeline for the state. However, the project has faced delays in its construction, causing adverse effects on the region. With the allocation of sufficient funds, the state government now has an opportunity to set a new deadline and demonstrate its commitment to the timely completion of the Polavaram project.
This financial assistance from the central government showcases their commitment to supporting the growth and development of Andhra Pradesh, and it is expected to pave the way for the project’s progress, bringing benefits to the region and its people.
