In a bid to check the ’onslaught’ of minister Ushasri Charan, elected representatives in her constituency Kalyanadurgam raised a rebellion opposing her high-handedness. They alleged that she was ignoring the MPTCs, ZPTCs, councillors and not giving them due importance.
Reportedly, all of them met at YCP secretary Tippeswamy’s farmhouse and passed a resolution demanding that Charan should not be given the party ticket for the upcoming elections in 2024.
They demanded that a local candidate, belonging to the BC, SC or ST community, should be given a ticket and made it clear that they would not support her if she was given a ticket. They also expressed fear that the party would get defeated if she was given a ticket. They also said that all of them had lost lot of their money due to her arrogant behaviour.
Raising slogans against the minister, they tried to take the issue to the notice of the YCP leadership. They also said that the YCP had taken a beating due to the minister’s adamant nature and suggested that only a local candidate would be able to revive the party’s glory.
The YCP cadre of Kalyanadurgam took the issue to the notice of government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and YCP senior minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy.
They felt that Peddireddy was supporting the minister instead of them even as they were complaining against her.
They alleged that Charan had been harassing them by foisting cases against them and refusing to sanction their bills.
Recently, a few of the YCP cadre even protested at the residence of the minister demanding that she pay off the debts she had taken from them during the previous elections.
