Telangana IT minister KTR, has surprised many by flying to New Delhi for meetings with top ministers, including Union home minister Amit Shah. The visit, which was revealed on Thursday evening, was kept confidential as KTR sought appointments with the ministers. He will spend two days in the national capital.
This development has raised speculation as neither CM KCR nor KTR had previously visited Delhi to meet central ministers. KTR was known for criticizing national BJP leaders on social media during their visits to Hyderabad.
Media speculations suggest that the meetings reflect a potential change in BRS’s stance towards the BJP, possibly due to the ongoing Enforcement Directorate investigation into the Delhi liquor scam involving KCR’s daughter Kavitha. Another theory is that the KCR government aims to shift blame onto the central government for not providing enough financial assistance to Telangana.
With the state assembly elections approaching in five months, KCR has assigned his son to address pending issues of Telangana with the Centre, particularly with Amit Shah.
It is believed that KCR intends to leverage the central government’s perceived lack of support to gain an advantage in the upcoming elections. The BJP, on the other hand, has criticized KCR and his ministers for failing to effectively represent the state’s interests at the central level.
