Ex-cricketer Ambati Rayudu started off his campaign to establish himself as a politician, after expressing interest to enter politics. However, he did not announce which party he would join but speculation is rife that he would join the ruling YCP in Andhra Pradesh.

The 37-year-old former cricketer declared that he would retire from the sport after winning the IPL with Chennai Super Kings. He played his last game against Gujarat Titans on May 29.

On May 30, Rayudu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

On the first day of his announcement, the ex-cricketer toured in Phirangipuram in Guntur district, the native of his grandmother. Later, he also offered prayers at Mookantheswari temple in Ameenabad. He also visited the primary schools in the village and interacted with the students.

On the second day, he visited Vatticherukuru and interacted with the farmers in the village. He also garlanded the statue of Kapu leader Vangaveeti Ranga there and paid tributes to him.

He also visited Mutluru village in Guntur district a couple of days ago and spoke to the villagers to know about their problems.
