The Telangana Congress party is gaining momentum as more leaders join its ranks. Recently, former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and former minister Jupalli Krishna Rao officially became members of the party. Now, a prominent businessman is reportedly planning to embrace the Congress. Mutyala Sunil Reddy, the owner of the renowned transport company Orange Travels, is expected to make the switch.
During the 2018 elections, Sunil Reddy contested from the Balkonda constituency and secured second place. After failed attempts to join the BJP, he expressed his interest in joining the Congress. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Revanth Reddy took notice of Sunil Reddy and promptly initiated discussions with him. The talks proved fruitful, and it is rumored that Sunil Reddy will soon formally join the Congress.
Before considering the Congress, Sunil Reddy explored the possibility of joining the BJP. He met with Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay to discuss his prospects. However, Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind objected to Sunil Reddy’s inclusion in the BJP, fearing that it would pose a threat to his own MP seat. Consequently, Sunil Reddy found himself at a crossroads.
Initially, Sunil Reddy was associated with the BRS party, and he anticipated receiving a ticket for the last elections. However, Chief Minister KCR chose Prashanth Reddy over him, prompting Sunil Reddy to contest under the BSP banner. Although Sunil Reddy put up a strong fight against Prashanth Reddy, he fell short of victory.
After witnessing Ponguleti and Jupalli joining the Congress, Sunil Reddy flew to Delhi to meet with Revanth Reddy. Media reports indicate that Sunil Reddy is likely to join the Congress officially, and he may even secure the B-form to contest from the Balkonda constituency.
