In an event at Venkatagiri, Tirupati district, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released financial assistance under the ‘YSR Nethanna Hastham’ scheme for the weavers. Following the release, he addressed the public and took the opportunity to take jabs at opposition party leaders. However, what surprised many was Jagan’s criticism of actor-Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, especially considering that YS Jagan was once a member of the Kadapa Balakrishna fans association.
During his speech, Jagan reminded the audience of Balakrishna’s controversial comments against women made during a movie promotional event in 2016. At the event, TDP legislator Nandamuri Balakrishna had made “objectionable” remarks about women, for which he later expressed regret and offered an apology.
The actor had said, “If I play eve-teasing roles and just follow girls, my fans will not accept it. Either a kiss should be given or they should be made pregnant. That’s all. We have to commit ourselves.”
YS Jagan referred to these comments and criticized Balakrishna, stating that he is a man with no morals.
Given the political climate in Andhra Pradesh, with the general elections approaching, these remarks from Jagan, particularly targeting Balakrishna, have sparked a political discussion. It remains to be seen how Balakrishna and the TDP leaders will react to these comments.
