The Assembly elections in the state are nearing and Telangana CM KCR is said to have initiated the poll process in the party. Firstly the BRS is focusing on ‘Operation Akarsh’ and from party insiders we hear that KCR might announce candidates list in August.
Simultaneously there is a buzz in the BRS party circles that KCR might opt out of Gajwel. In 2014 and 2018, KCR successfully contested from Gajwel and this time he is willing to change his constituency. The party sources said that there are three places KCR might contest from.
The first is Medchal constituency and currently labour minister CH Malla Reddy is representing it. The other two constituencies are Peddapalli and Kamareddy. At these two constituencies, BRS has a strong cadre and vote bank. KCR’s victory will be effortless, say the party leaders.
However, if KCR prefers any of these places, the sitting MLA will have to vacate and it would be a tough situation. Currently none of the sitting MLAs are ready to sacrifice their seat but they will have no choice if KCR picks one of the three constituencies.
Simultaneously KCR is keeping his options open and some leaders suggest that the BRS chief should contest from south Telangana or Khammam where the party needs strong growth and also has the threat of opposition.
