The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), a coalition of opposition parties have moved the No-Confidence Motion against the Narendra Modi government in Lok Sabha. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has admitted the No-Trust Motion moved by the Opposition parties. Thus, this move marks the first such motion in 20 years, the previous one being in 2003 against Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. The Modi-led NDA government has a mammoth 332 MPs support in the house and hence there is no risk for the Union Government.
However, the focus is now on the regional political parties. All eyes are on the TDP and YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. Whilst both the TDP and YSRCP maintaining cordial relationship with the BJP are having equal distance, what is the stand of these parties in the no-trust motion is raising a lot of curiosity. Besides voting, the speeches of the party’s representatives during the No-Trust motion are also highly anticipated.
YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy, who helms the national politics of the party, openly stated that YSRCP supports the Modi government and opposes the No-Confidence Motion. “When everything is going good, what is the necessity for the No-Confidence Motion? We’re going to oppose the No-Confidence Motion,” said Vijayasai Reddy speaking to the media at Delhi. YSRCP has 22 MPs whereas TDP has 3 MPs in the Lok Sabha. TDP is yet to respond to the No-Trust motion moved by the opposition parties.
Janasena party, which has no representation in Lok Sabha, is the ally of BJP in AP. Pawan Kalyan recently attended the NDA meeting held at Delhi. While TDP and YSRCP were not invited. Buzz is that the TDP and Janasena along with the BJP are likely to forge an alliance in Andhra Pradesh. It is still in the nascent phase.
Meanwhile, KCR-led BRS isn’t part of the congress-led alliance INDIA. However, BRS has also moved the No-Confidence Motion in Lok Sabha. So, both the BRS and the parties of INDIA are going to support the No-Trust Motion. BRS has been vehemently opposing Modi and NDA. However, it is fighting against the Congress in the state. BRS is stressing that an alternative Alliance will emerge after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
