AP DGP Finds Fault With Pawan’s Calculations!

Published by

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan’s allegations on the volunteers for being indirectly responsible for the missing of around 30,000 women from Andhra Pradesh met with severe backlash from the ruling YCP. The ruling party leaders rubbished the Jana Senani’s allegations and said that there was no truth in his allegations. However, Union MoS, Home, Ajay Mishra’s clarification in writing that the figures stated by Pawan were true dumbfounded the YCP men.

According to the statistics of the National Crime Records Bureau, from 2019 to 2021, over 7,928 girls and 22,278 women disappeared from the state. In Telangana, around 8,066 girls and 34,495 women missing cases were registered. Pawan Kalyan fumed at the Women’s Commission and asked about its explanation over the huge number of missing women. “Why are girls and women missing from Andhra Pradesh,” he asked.

Can the Women’s Commission ask the Home Minister and the DGP for the reasons behind these cases? Can the Commission take action against the YCP government regarding the matter?

Responding to Pawan’s comments, AP DGP Rajendranath Reddy said that according to the NCRB report, 26,000 women disappeared and of them, 23,000 have been tracked down. Attempts are on to trace the remaining women too, he said.

He also said that these women went missing for various reasons but some people unaware of it, are claiming that nearly 30,000 women had gone missing. “It is not good to link up every untoward incident in the state with ganja,” the DGP said, adding that all measures are being taken to check its peddling.
