The NTR district education officer (DEO) directed the Visannapet mandal education officer to get criminal cases filed against Andhrajyothy and Eenadu. These media organisations popularly named as ‘yellow media’ by YCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other YCP leaders.
Both the Telugu dailies published pictures showing the poor condition of the roof and submersion of classroom in the floodwater.
Piqued over the false reports, the MEO was directed to lodge a complaint against the newspapers.
The education officials said that funds of Rs 66 lakh were spent on the school during the Nadu-Nedu programme. The funds were spent on providing new benches, improving greenery and construction of hygienic toilets. In toto, the school was given a facelift.
With the new buildings and classrooms taking shape, some old sheds with asbestos sheet were left abandoned on the premises. Some low-lying portions on the school premises were inundated following the incessant rain for the last four days.
The officials alleged that the reporters of the Telugu dailies took a few students into the abandoned sheds, took some pictures with the students and created news only to tarnish the image of the YCP government.
To counter the onslaught of the Telugu dailies, and few pro TDP and Janasena Social media handles the YCP government has decided to take stringent action against the media organisations.
