Former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar said that neither the TDP nor the YCP government did any good to the state. The GDP of the state has been increasing because the monsoon was good and our state is basically agriculture based, he said and criticised the government for not getting any industries established in the last few years.
Addressing mediapersons, the former MP reminded that right from bifurcation of the state in 2014, Andhra Pradesh has been betrayed. It has been 10 years since the AP Reorganisation Act was passed but there is no improvement in the state for the last 10 years, he said.
Neither the TDP nor the YCP, either in the ruling or in the opposition benches, fought the cause of the state. Both the governments had been in good terms with the BJP at the Centre and abiding by its diktats but they could not bring any benefit to the state. Neither the ruling party nor the opposition party are in a position to confront the Centre, he said.
CM Jagan and Chandrababu Naidu seem to have surrendered to the BJP at the Centre, he said.
All the MPs from Andhra Pradesh have been supporting the BJP-led Centre, be it Citizen Charter or the Punjab ryots’ dharna, without any opposition. Both in the LS and RS, they have been supporting all the Bills.
Undavalli rued that neither the opposition party nor the ruling party are in a position to oppose the Centre’s plan to privatise the Vizag Steel Plant, despite having complete majority.
“It can be said that the BJP is not as strong in any other state than in Andhra Pradesh,” he added.
