Polavaram, the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh has been facing continuous delays and as a result the budget of the project went up. The YCP which took over the government from Telugu Desam in 2019, initially planned to complete the project by the year 2022.
Things didn’t go as planned by YCP and with Covid-19 causing severe financial crunch, Polavaram dam could not meet its deadline. On the other hand, the union government is also releasing funds with more scrutiny and it affected the construction’s progress. On that note there have been many reports about Polavaram’s completion and AP CM Jagan has announced a new deadline.
August 2025 is the deadline, CM Jagan has set for Polavaram. Accusing the previous government, Jagan added that it’s because of the TDP government, Polavaram is taking considerable time. But this time there will not be further delays and by 2025 August, the project will be completed, stated CM Jagan.
This means, Polavaram will take another two years of time. Will Jagan stick to the new deadline? Or will a change in government change the fate of construction? Nonetheless, Polavaram seriously needs a miracle!
