After a long time, AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled to fly to New Delhi at 3 pm on Tuesday. He is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah too during his visit. The Chief Minister’s office had already sought appointments of Modi and Shah but they have not been finalised as yet.
Tonight, Jagan Mohan Reddy will stay in Delhi and then fly to Tirupati on Wednesday, where he will take part in the annual Brahmotsavam programme. The CM will present silk clothes to Lord Balaji and his consorts, Sridevi and Bhudevi, on behalf of the government on the occasion.
On Wednesday, he will make a night stay in Tirumala and the next day, he will take part in the Bhumi Puja for a guest house to be built by the Karantaka government in Tirumala. He will take part in the foundation stone laying programme along with Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa.
Now, there are doubts over what could be the hidden agenda behind Jagan’s
2-day sudden visit to Delhi while he as well as the leaders in Delhi are busy with their own works.
While Jagan is busy trying to resolve the financial troubles aggravated due to the Corona crisis, Modi, Shah and other leaders are busy as the Parliament session is underway. There are no special issues that need to get clearance from the Delhi authorities like pending projects, funds or any new projects.
Hectic Schedules
The biggest issue that could be bothering Jagan now is insider trading in Amaravati land scam which has been put on hold by the AP High Court and the AP government challenging the same in the Supreme Court. This apart, the three-capital proposal too got entangled in the legal issues.
Capital shifting top on list
Apparently, the central government seems to be standing in support to Jagan Mohan Reddy with regard to shifting of the capital from Amaravati to Vizag as it filed affidavits, not once but thrice, stating that it has no say on the location of the capital or the number of capitals.
Similarly, the issue of dissolving the Legislative Council in Andhra Pradesh is also pending with the Centre. This apart, the disqualification of YCP rebel MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju is another matter pending with the Centre. RRR’s comments and challenges to the YCP leadership, on a daily basis, have become a prestigious issue to Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Political analysts feel that there are 3-4 issues pertaining to the AP government which needs Centre’s involvement for resolving. As of now, Jagan seems to have put dissolving the Legislative Council on the backburner temporarily. However, the YCP MPs have been raising the issue in the Lok Sabha.
With regard to the GST compensation funds, the CM need not rush to Delhi and meet either Modi or Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman as the MPs can handle it by themselves. Moreover, Nirmala Sitharaman had already promised to release Rs 4,300 crore of GST arrears to the state at the earliest.
