Ruling YSRCP came out with the flying colours in the recently conducted Panchayat by-election. Of the 66 Sarpanch seats, YCP-sympathisers have won 53 seats thus showing its sheer dominance. Opposition TDP settled with 10 panchayats and Janasena bagged one seats. The election for the two panchayats have been postponed. With this, it gave big boost to the ruling party ahead of the polls.
Out of the 1062 wards, 756 wards are declared unanimous. Elections are held in only 243 wards and the election in the 63 wards are due. Including the unanimous wards, YCP supporters won a whopping 810 wards. TDP bagged 182 wards and Janasena settled with 10 wards. In Chandrababu Naidu’s home turf Kuppam constituency, ruling YCP won 5 wards out of the 6 wards. Thus, YCP gave a rude shock to the TDP.
Ahead of the 2024 general elections, panchayat polls are indicative of the public mood, opine YSRCP leaders. MP Vijay Sai Reddy took to Twitter and shared that YCP bagged 85 percent of the seats in Panchayats and wards. He said this indicates clean sweep for YCP in 2024. The results come right after the Times Now – ETG survey which predicted 24 to 25 seats of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the next parliament election in Andhra Pradesh.
