Amidst allegations from TDP leaders suggesting that the YCP government has targeted Ramoji Rao in the Margadarshi Chit Funds case, the hashtag #TeluguPeopleWithRamojiRao is gaining traction on Twitter.
TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh have both pledged their support to Ramoji Rao in response to this situation, with the hashtag being promoted by Chandrababu and Lokesh themselves.
In light of this development, Chandrababu vehemently criticized Jagan and his administration. Chandrababu accused Jagan of attempting to dismantle the media system and undermine institutions, thereby endangering the media, which serves as the fourth pillar of democracy.
Chandrababu expressed concern that Jagan’s actions resemble dictatorial behavior, as he continues to harass and intimidate media outlets like Eenadu that expose wrongdoings and illicit activities.
He also emphasized that Jagan’s actions are tarnishing the reputation of Ramoji Rao, who has dedicated six decades to serving the Telugu community and has been recognized with the Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to journalism, literature, and education.
Furthermore, Nara Lokesh conveyed his frustration over Jagan’s apparent vendetta against Ramoji Rao. Lokesh underscored that targeting media organizations that shed light on corruption and inadequate governance by those in power poses a significant threat to democracy. He noted that Jagan’s actions indicate a stance against responsible institutions, which is raising concerns among the public.
Lokesh criticized Jagan’s use of governmental institutions for personal vendettas and labeled these actions as psychological antics that are disheartening to the people. He urged against the harassment of media organizations and their leaders, emphasizing their crucial role in raising public awareness. Lokesh took to Twitter to reiterate TDP’s backing of Ramoji Rao, using the hashtag #TeluguPeopleWithRamojiRao.
