Former Chief Minister and TDP leader, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days in connection with the alleged Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) scam. He began his first day at Rajamahendravaram Central Jail with yoga and exercise.
After his morning workout, Naidu read newspapers and underwent a medical check-up. According to the ACB court’s orders, he was allowed home-cooked meals. Naidu, undertrial prisoner No 7691, had fruit salad and black coffee for breakfast, followed by brown rice, pulkas, ladies finger fry, paneer butter curry, and curd for lunch.
Despite his Z+ category security, Naidu had a special room in the jail’s historic Sneha Block. NSG commandos were not allowed inside, but five wardens provided security.
Naidu arrived at the central jail from Vijayawada after midnight, and he got around six hours of sleep. There’s no specific dress code for undertrial prisoners, so he wore his regular clothes.
His planned meeting with his family was canceled for unknown reasons. The East Godavari district Police increased security around the central jail, with checkpoints and CCTV cameras.
The central jail, spread over 196 acres, houses around 2,000 prisoners and undertrials. Naidu’s presence has stirred curiosity among inmates, but the authorities have taken precautions to restrict access to the Sneha Block.
