Kukatpally has become the most sought after ticket and the demand for the seat is the same in all the political parties. There is buzz that the seat is costing hundreds of crores and that several businessmen are eyeing it. Moreover, the number of aspirants for Kukatpally ticket is increasing by the day.
In 2018 elections, the BRS won the seat after fielding Madhavaram Krishna Rao who won with a majority of 41,000 votes. In 2014 too, after the division of the state too, Krishna Rao won the seat with a majority of 43,000 votes. In 2018, when the Congress forged an alliance with the TDP, the latter allotted the seat to Nandamuri Harikrishna’s daughter Suhasini. Despite giving a tough fight and even when actor Nandamuri Balakrishna campaigned in her favour, she could not clinch victory.
Cut the scene and now, it is learnt that a prominent leader from the TDP is seeking the ticket, and exuding confidence that he would be able to defeat BRS’ Madhavaram. Reportedly, he even is taking the responsibility of ensuring victory for the TDP in Kukatpally constituency.
Coming to the Congress, there is talk that a successful businessman is trying to bag the ticket by seeking help from former TTD chairman Subbarami Reddy. It is learnt that this businessman is ready to shell out huge amount for the Kukatpally constituency and some more amount for other constituencies too. The Congress high command alone can take a decision about this, said a party activist.
Meanwhile, the BRS has fielded Madhavaram once again from Kukatpally but this time, chances of his victory have reportedly diminished. There is information that the public in the constituency are not happy with Madhavaram for neglecting them despite voting him to power twice consecutively. All the political parties are keen on the Kukatpally constituency as the population of Andhra settlers is more in this area.
