Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP chief, has had his judicial remand extended till October 19 in the Skill Development Corporation scam case, as ruled by a local court in Amaravati. This marks the third extension of his remand, following the conclusion of the second extension on Thursday.
The court has also scheduled the hearings for Mr. Naidu’s bail plea and a petition by the Andhra Pradesh Police CID, seeking his custody, for Friday.
Representatives from the CID, including Additional Advocate General P Sudhakar Reddy, and Supreme Court lawyer Pramod Dubey, who advocated for the former chief minister, were present during the proceedings. The CID is pressing for an additional five-day police custody for Mr. Naidu, asserting that he did not adequately cooperate during the initial two-day custodial questioning on September 23 and 24.
Mr. Naidu was initially arrested on September 9 on allegations of misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation,.
