For the first time after announcing an alliance last month to fight together against the YSRCP government, the prime opposition party of Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party led by Nara Lokesh, and Janasena party under the chairmanship of Pawan Kalyan met this Monday afternoon in Rajahmundry as part of the coordination committee meeting.
Prominent leaders from both parties attended this meeting which garnered much significance among political circles of Andhra Pradesh ahead of the assembly elections next year because Pawan and Lokesh are expected to chalk out the roadmap of the alliance and discuss various important issues.
As expected, the Joint Action Committee of TDP-Janasena discussed six important issues of the Common Minimum Program in the agenda during the meeting. Besides these issues, Pawan and Lokesh decided on the plan of action and a list of political activities to be undertaken in the next six months in the run-up to the elections by both parties unitedly and individually. They said to have also finalized the modalities to strengthen the alliance at the ground level by coordinating with all key members of both parties in all constituencies across the state.
Furthermore, the JAC decided to reach out to people on various pressing issues in the state, which include the failure of the state government to complete irrigation projects, the prevailing drought-like situation, the problems being faced by farmers, price rise, power tariff, sand policy, liquor policy and other issues grappling various sectors in the state.
The JAC also discussed seat sharing between the two parties in the 2024 elections. They deliberated about setting up coordination committees down to the village level and consolidating the vote share of the alliance.
During this meeting, both parties vowed to fight against the illegal removal of voters from the electoral list by the ruling party. It has been decided to approach the central election commission against the irregularities committed in the deletion of votes who are against the government.
Pawan and Lokesh also said to have discussed steps to ensure coordination between leaders and supporters of both parties to address some key ground-level issues that ensued after the announcement of the alliance by Pawan Kalyan immediately after Chandra Babu Naidu’s arrest in Rajamundry.
Overall, this crucial meeting will mark a significant step in the TDP – Janasena alliance because there has not been much headway in the last month because both parties got busy with their own activities.
