Former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao took exception to BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s remarks against him and reminded that he helped KCR in getting the minister post in the past.
During his campaigning in Khammam, KCR said that he had made Tummala an MLC and a minister too, after his defeat in the 2014 Assembly elections from the Khammam segment.
Tummala quit the BRS and joined the Congress. The former minister was speaking at the Atmeeya Sabhas held in the 9th and 41st divisions in Khammam, as part of his campaigning for the Palair seat. “My only aim is to provide irrigation to 10 lakh acres by lifting Godavari waters to Palair via Munneru. It is for the same reason that I am contesting from the Congress.”
In response to KCR’s remarks that Nageswara Rao had failed miserably failed to live up to the BRS’ expectations with dismal performance in the 2018 elections, he said that the BRS leadership pretty well knows who was responsible for his defeat in 2018.
In an oblique reference to KCR’s son K.T. Rama Rao, Tummala said that he had given money to his (Tummala) rival to defeat him only to make Puvvada Ajay a minister.
The former minister also reminded that he had agreed to contest from Palair when there was none to take up the task, only to save the prestige of the BRS.
It is unfair on the part of a man in the stature of a CM to make such mean remarks, Tummala lamented.
