SC serves notices to Jagan, CBI Court

Published by

In what can be a setback to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Supreme Court served notices to him and to the CBI court too in connection with his disproportionate assets case.

The case came up for hearing in the Supreme Court on Friday. A two-judge bench comprising Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatti asked the CBI court why there was inordinate delay in investigation into the case.

The apex court asked the CBI court to tell the reasons for the delay in resolving the case and adjourned the hearing to January next year.

All the respondents in the case have also been served notices by the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, YCP rebel MP K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju filed a petition urging the Supreme Court to shift the case to another state, as it was getting delayed. He also mentioned that the CBI court had already adjourned the case 3071 times.

He also informed the apex court that Jagan also obtained exemption from the CBI court with regard to appearing for hearing of the case. There are hundreds of discharge petitions filed in this connection, he mentioned in the petition.

However, it also questioned in which manner the MP was connected with Jagan’s case. The MP is neither the petitioner nor the respondent in the case, the apex court pointed out. To this, the MP’s counsel said his client could file the petition.

When the court asked the MP’s counsel if his client belonged to the Opposition party, he informed the court that RRR belonged to the YCP.
