Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, entering Telangana’s political arena after a decade, expressed deep concern over the prevailing corruption in the state. Addressing a public meeting in Warangal during his first election campaign organized by alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kalyan revealed his disappointment at the extent of corruption, particularly in irrigation projects, as highlighted in a recent television interview by a contractor. He emphasized the people’s right to a corruption-free government, expressing his commitment to social change and equality.
Kalyan acknowledged the unique historical context of Telangana’s formation and his previous silence on state governance due to his respect for the Telangana movement. Criticizing corruption openly, he refrained from explicitly naming the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Despite his prolonged absence, Kalyan declared his dedication to touring Telangana, drawing parallels with his efforts in Andhra Pradesh. He spoke passionately about the significance of Telangana in his political journey, citing it as the birthplace of his party and describing it as his heartbeat.
Highlighting his alliance with the BJP, Kalyan affirmed that his political endeavors aimed at bringing about social change rather than merely acquiring power. He echoed the BJP’s promise to appoint a person from the Backward Classes (BC) as the Chief Minister if elected in Telangana, aligning with the aspirations of those who sacrificed for the state.
Expressing admiration for Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Kalyan pledged support for addressing the concerns of the people, despite potential limitations on touring all constituencies. He concluded by urging support for BJP candidates Rao Padma and Erraballi Pradeep Kumar in the upcoming elections.
