BRS MLA candidate Padi Kaushik Reddy had made shocking comments the other day as part of the last day of the poll campaign. Kaushik, who is contesting for the Huzurabad Assembly constituency, stated that he would resort to extreme step if he is not voted. He said he would commit suicide if defeated.
Kaushik said if he wins there will be a victory rally on 4th December (a day after the election results on 3rd December) or else there will be a funeral procession of him if he loses. This is not all. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter. He told the people that it was their wish if they wanted to see them taking their lives by hanging. “It’s up to you what you want. If you don’t vote for me, you will see our dead bodies,” he told to wife and daughter in front of the public.
Kaushik is currently the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC). In his final appeal to people to give him a chance by electing him to the Assembly in the November 30 election. Overall, Kaushik’s comments have gone viral and become a talking point in political circles.
A section believes Kaushik’s comments as emotional outburst whereas several others sees it as threatening. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has considered these comments seriously. It asked the returning officer to submit a report on Kaushik’s remarks.
It can be noted that Kaushik was earlier defeated by Etela Rajendar in the by-elections. Etela resigned from BRS and joined the BJP and contested the polls. He had also lost to Etela in 2018 when he had contested from the Congress. Kaushik is now competing with BJP’s Etela Rajender and Congress candidate Vodithala Pranav.
