The election results in Telangana shocked the ruling party BRS giving a victory to Congress. While the BRS leaders have been retrospecting where it went wrong for them, the focus shifted to the Congress party on who will be the CM candidate.
Congress is yet to announce a Chief Minister candidate but rumors have taken the wheel since the election results have been declared. Earlier reports suggest that Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, and Uttam Kumar Reddy are the top contenders for the Telangana CM post.
One rumor says that Revanth Reddy is confirmed as the CM of Telangana, while the conflict came up for the Deputy CM post. Bhatti Vikramarka and Ponnam Prabhakar are heard to be in the race for the Deputy CM post with the former asking for a ‘Single Deputy CM post’ and the latter seeking the same post under the BC quota. It is being heard that there is a huge lobbying for other important ministries.
Another rumor says that the State Congress is divided into two groups over the ‘CM Post’. When Revanth Reddy’s name is almost confirmed for the CM seat, Bhatti Vikramarka supporters are said to be demanding the CM post for Bhatti and he doesn’t want to be a Deputy CM. Bhatti supporters are asking how the Party’s high command wants to give away the CM seat to Revanth ignoring the party seniors.
Amid this chaos between the groups of two Congress leaders, the high command is holding discussions with Sivakumar and Mallikarjun Kharge to announce the Telangana CM candidate soon.
Revanth Reddy contested against CM KCR in the elections and is one of the strong candidates who made Congress strong enough in Telangana to dethrone BRS. Revanth Reddy was appointed as Telangana Congress Chief in July 2021 and he has been bringing the needed traction by protesting and pointing at the issues in BRS rule. Revanth Reddy played a major role in castigating BRS’ policies and deficiencies.
Another contender from Telangana Congress for the CM seat is Bhatti Vikramarka who also made an intense campaign against KCR in the recent elections. Bhatti carried out a 1400 km padayatra, the ‘People’s March’ which played a key role in Congress’ win. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who was head of the Congress’ Telangana until July 2021, is also considered for the CM post.
