Will ‘Change’ Begin In Telangana?

Published by

Significant changes are rapidly unfolding in Telangana as the Congress, championing the slogan of change during the recent assembly elections, takes strategic steps in the exercise of power. Notably, Revanth Reddy, the incoming Chief Minister, is demonstrating a distinct approach, signaling a readiness to view power as a responsibility rather than a mere privilege.

In a notable departure from the convention, Revanth Reddy, hours before his scheduled oath-taking ceremony, declined an official convoy arranged for him. Despite the customary provision of security for the future Chief Minister, Revanth opted to travel in his private vehicles, emphasizing a departure from the perceived extravagance associated with the position.

Further highlighting the shift in approach, Revanth announced plans to rename Pragathi Bhavan to Ambedkar Bhavan, symbolizing a departure from the practices of the previous administration. Additionally, there are reports of immediate orders to remove barricades on the main road leading to Begumpet, indicating a move away from exclusivity associated with Pragathi Bhavan.

In contrast to the media restrictions imposed by the previous government during the inauguration of the Telangana secretariat, Revanth Reddy has directed officials to make special arrangements for the media in the lower block of the Secretariat. This shift suggests a commitment to transparency and accessibility in government functions.

Revanth has also expressed his preference for simplicity in personal matters, indicating that he does not desire an official residence. Instead, he intends to continue residing in his current home, eschewing the grandeur associated with the Rajamahal.

These early decisions and gestures reflect a deliberate departure from established norms, signaling a commitment to a more inclusive and accessible form of governance under the leadership of Revanth Reddy and the Congress party.
