Modi Going For Polls 1 Month Ahead Of Schedule?

Published by

Buoyed by the recent victory in the three states, the BJP is mulling to go for the general elections at least a month ahead of the schedule.

According to information, the general elections, scheduled to be held in April, are likely to preponed to March and the first of the 7-10 phases could be completed between March 10-15, next year.

There is speculation that the schedule of the Lok Sabha elections is likely to be released by February 20. It is learnt that the Election Commission is also putting in efforts in the same direction. If this prognostication is true, the general elections in both the Telugu states are likely to be held in the first phase, supposedly in March.

The feelers from the political leaders of the Telugu states also seem to corroborating with the prediction. The tenure of the 17th Lok Sabha would expire by June 16, 2024. Hence, all the phases of the general elections should be completed before May end, next year.

During the 2019 general elections, the schedule was released on March 10 and the elections were organized in 7 phases, from April 11 to May 19. In the Telugu states, the elections were held in the first phase itself. If the same is repeated this time around, the elections are likely to be held in both the Telugu states between March 10-15.

Accordingly, the YCP and TDP bosses had already gone into the poll mode. While the TDP supremo had indicated the cadre about the advancement of polls and asked them to gear up for it, YCP boss and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is completely immersed in the exercise. He had changed the party in-charges of 11 districts and issued warning to all the MLAs about dropping their names if they performed poor.

In Telangana, Congress chief and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is also learnt to have instructed the officials to hasten the implementation of all the six guarantees promised by the party during the hustings. Sources said that Revanth is targeting for the Congress victory from all the 17 LS constituencies in the state.
