Family bonds matter more in every situation. In tune with this belief, TDP boss N. Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to be readying to forego one constituency for his sister-in-law Purandeswari’s son in the upcoming elections.
Pruandeswari is Babu wife Bhuvaneswari’s sister and also the chief of the Andhra Pradesh BJP unit. There is buzz that she is planning to introduce her son Hitesh Chenchuram into the political arena by fielding him from a constituency familiar to their family, in the 2024 elections. At the same time, there is talk that Naidu is also trying to support Hitesh gain foothold in politics.
According to information, Purandeswari is contemplating to field her son from Parchuru Assembly constituency in Bapatla district, which is also a stronghold of the TDP.
Yeluri Sambasiva Rao contested on a TDP ticket from the same constituency twice and registered victory. In 2019 too, when there was a strong YCP wave, Sambasiva Rao defeated Purandeswari’s husband Daggubati Venkateswara Rao.
Earlier, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao won from the constituency on a TDP ticket in 1985 and 1989 and on a Congress ticket during 2004 and 2009 elections. Now, it is from the same constituency, Purandeswari is planning to field her son.
It is significant to note that Naidu is ready to forego the constituency for the sake of Purandeswari even when his party has a strong footing in the place. Sources said that in 2024, Sambasiva Rao would be shifted to Cheerala and Parchuru would be vacated for Hitesh. It is learnt that Purandeswari is preparing the ground to field Hitesh as a TDP-Jana Sena-BJP candidate as she believes it will increase his winning chances.
