Two days ago, CM Revanth Reddy made a significant revelation, disclosing that former CM KCR had acquired 22 Toyota Land Cruiser cars with the anticipation of winning another term as Telangana CM. The public was unaware of the secret location where these cars were stationed, as details of the acquisition were not disclosed during KCR’s tenure as CM. The latest development reveals that these cars are located at the Veerapaneni Industrial Park in Vijayawada, specifically at the Trinayani Engineering Works outlet.
Telangana Intelligence officers have traced the cars to Vijayawada, where they were parked for the installation of bulletproof glasses and satellite-backed GPS systems, enhancing their safety features. This process is time-consuming, potentially explaining the extended stay of the cars in Vijayawada.
Public concern has now escalated, questioning the expenditure from the Telangana exchequer, which reportedly amounts to around Rs 66 crore for these 22 high-end cars. This controversy arises at a time when the government under BRS is facing challenges in clearing power supply bills, claiming a lack of funds for public schemes.
The public is questioning the necessity of acquiring these Land Cruisers, especially considering that KCR already had two convoys with an adequate number of bulletproof cars. The criticism suggests that KCR might have been confident of winning for the third time and anticipated little opposition scrutiny. The extravagant use of public funds by KCR is sparking public outcry and raising concerns about fiscal responsibility.
